Even without electricity or gas, there are numerous ways to prepare a warm meal. Especially when outdoor cooking, traditional cooking methods are used that function independently of modern energy supply.

With a Dutch Oven, many different heat sources can be used as a cooking area. In addition to a classic campfire, a Dutch Oven Station, a rocket stove or special grill pots are suitable as practical outdoor cooking options.

For indoor use, fondue sets with burner paste can also be an alternative. These can be used, for example, to heat smaller dishes, soups, or stews.

Firing a Dutch Oven with embers or briquettes

The classic method for cooking in a Dutch Oven is to use charcoal or grill briquettes.

The briquettes are first brought to a glow in a chimney starter. Then, they are distributed under the pot and on the lid to create even top and bottom heat.

The advantage of briquettes lies in their even heat and long burning time. This allows dishes such as stews, bread, or braised dishes to cook consistently for a longer period.

Dutch Oven Station (DOKING)

If you don't have a permanent fire pit, you can use a Dutch Oven Station like the DOKING.

This cooking area is ideal for gardens, patios, or lawns. Thanks to its sturdy construction, the heat remains concentrated inside, while the surface below is protected.

This allows the Dutch Oven to be operated safely even without a campfire.

Cooking with HIBA2 or HIBA3 grill pot

The grill pot HIBA2 or HIBA3 is another practical cooking area for the Dutch Oven.

Here, charcoal or wood is ignited directly in the grill pot. Then, a cast iron grill grate is placed on top. The Dutch Oven can then be placed on the grate to cook in it.
