Moist braided yeast bread with chocolate Oreo cream
This recipe is perfect for anyone who loves Oreo cookies and fluffy yeast dough . The moist braided yeast bread is spread with a creamy Oreo chocolate filling and then shaped into a decorative braid.
It turns out particularly well in a cast iron pan , as the cake bakes evenly in it and can be served directly in a rustic style.
The result: a soft yeast dough, an intense chocolate filling, and a real eye-catcher on any table.
Ingredients
yeast dough
160 g flour
1/3 cube fresh yeast
1 tbsp sugar
80 ml warm milk
20 g butter (softened)
1 egg
1 pinch of salt
filling
8 Oreo cookies
100 g butter
20 g cocoa powder
preparation
1. Prepare the yeast dough
Place the flour in a bowl and make a well in the center.
Crumble in the yeast and mix with some warm milk and the sugar.
Cover the bowl and let it stand for about 15-20 minutes until the yeast is activated.
2. Knead the dough
Add the remaining milk, butter, a pinch of salt and about ⅔ of the beaten egg (reserve the rest for brushing).
Knead everything into a smooth yeast dough .
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour , until the volume has increased significantly.
3. Make the Oreo filling
Finely crumble the Oreo cookies.
Melt the butter and mix it with the Oreo crumbs and cocoa powder to form a spreadable cream.
4. Form a braid
Roll out the yeast dough on a lightly floured work surface into a rectangular shape .
Spread the Oreo cream evenly on top.
Roll the dough into a roll from the long side.
Cut the roll in half lengthwise so that the filling becomes visible.
Carefully twist the two strands together to form a braid .
Form the braid into a wreath or place it directly into a greased cast iron pan .
5. Second walking time
Let the braided yeast bread rise again for 30 minutes .
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180 °C (top/bottom heat) .
6. Baking
Brush the braided yeast bread with the remaining egg.
Optionally sprinkle with some Oreo crumbs.
Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown .
Serve
Let the braided yeast bread cool slightly and enjoy it best when lukewarm .
It goes perfectly with coffee, cocoa, or as a sweet afternoon snack.
