Vegetarian pasta bake with tomatoes and cheese

Simple oven dish that only takes 10 minutes to prepare

This vegetarian pasta bake is quick to prepare and impresses with a creamy tomato sauce and a golden-brown cheese crust. It's perfect for everyday meals when you need something fast but still want something really delicious.

With just a few ingredients, you can create a hearty oven dish in Italian style that the whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients (for approx. 4 people)

500g tortiglioni or penne

1 small can of chopped tomatoes

2 large fresh tomatoes

1 clove of garlic

200 ml cream

100g Gouda or Edam cheese, grated

100g grated mozzarella

50 ml olive oil

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

Salt and pepper to taste


preparation

1. Cook the pasta

Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water according to the package instructions until al dente , then drain well.

2. Prepare the oven

Preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat or 180 °C fan/convection heat .

Lightly grease a large casserole dish.

3. Prepare the sauce

Mix the olive oil, cream and chopped tomatoes in a bowl.

Peel the garlic, chop it finely or press it through a garlic press and add it to the sauce.

Season with oregano, basil, salt and pepper.

4. Layer the casserole

Mix the cooked pasta well with the tomato sauce.

Mix half of the grated cheese into the pasta.

Place the pasta in the casserole dish.

Cut the fresh tomatoes into wedges and distribute them over the pasta mixture.

Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.

5. Baking

Bake the pasta bake in a preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes , until the cheese is melted and golden brown.


Serve

Let the casserole rest briefly and then serve.

Optionally, garnish with fresh basil or some grated Parmesan cheese .
