Vegetarian pasta bake with tomatoes and cheese

Easy Oven Dish with only 10 Minutes Prep Time

This vegetarian pasta bake is quick to prepare and impresses with a creamy tomato sauce and a golden-brown cheese crust. This dish is perfect for everyday meals when you need something quick yet truly delicious.

With just a few ingredients, you can create a hearty Italian-style oven dish that the whole family will love.

Ingredients (for approx. 4 servings)

500 g tortiglioni or penne

1 small can of chopped tomatoes

2 large fresh tomatoes

1 clove of garlic

200 ml cream

100 g grated Gouda or Edam cheese

100 g grated mozzarella

50 ml olive oil

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

Salt and pepper to taste


Preparation

1. Cook the pasta

Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water according to package directions until al dente, then drain well.

2. Prepare the oven

Preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat or 180 °C convection.

Lightly grease a large baking dish.

3. Prepare the sauce

Whisk together olive oil, cream, and chopped tomatoes in a bowl.

Peel the garlic, finely chop or press it, and add to the sauce.

Season with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.

4. Layer the casserole

Mix the cooked pasta well with the tomato sauce.

Mix half of the grated cheese into the pasta.

Transfer the pasta to the baking dish.

Slice the fresh tomatoes and arrange them on top of the pasta.

Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.

5. Bake

Bake the pasta casserole in the preheated oven for approx. 25–30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden brown.


Serve

Let the casserole rest briefly, then serve.

Optionally garnish with fresh basil or some grated Parmesan cheese.
