Hamburger Pasta from the Dutch Oven

The classic burger as a creamy one-pot highlight

Juicy ground beef, tangy gherkins, creamy sauce, and melted cheese – sounds like a perfect burger?
Here's the version for all Dutch oven fans: Hamburger Pasta!

This recipe combines the typical burger taste with hearty pasta and is slowly cooked and gratinized in a Dutch oven. The result: creamy, spicy, filling – and perfect for camping, barbecue evenings, or outdoor cooking.

Ingredients (for approx. 10 servings)

  • 1 onion
  • 9 gherkins
  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 500 g pasta (uncooked)
  • 110 g ketchup
  • 40 g mustard
  • 2 g pepper
  • 5 g salt
  • 2 g paprika powder
  • 750 ml cooking cream
  • 75 ml pickle juice
  • 700 ml broth
  • 150 g grated cheese
  • Oil for frying

Preparation in a Dutch Oven

1. Prepare the heat

Let briquettes glow until they have an even heat.
Preheat the Dutch oven with about 20 briquettes under the pot.

2. Brown the ground meat

Add oil to the Dutch oven.
Brown the ground beef until crumbly and nicely browned.

3. Season & refine

Add diced onion, ketchup, mustard, pepper, salt, and paprika powder.
Mix everything well so the flavors combine.

4. Create the creamy base

Stir in cooking cream, pickle juice, and sliced gherkins.
Incorporate uncooked pasta and pour in the broth.
Mix everything thoroughly.

5. Cook

Place the lid on.
Now place 16 briquettes from the bottom onto the lid to create top heat.
Simmer gently for approx. 20 minutes.

6. Gratinize

Briefly remove the lid, stir, and sprinkle with grated cheese.
Close the lid again and gratinize for another 30–40 minutes until a golden-brown cheese crust forms.

Tip:
This recipe can be wonderfully prepared in advance and is ideal for larger groups while camping or barbecuing.
