Roasted chickpeas are a healthy and incredibly delicious alternative to chips and other snacks.
They are crispy on the outside, slightly soft on the inside, and can be easily prepared in the oven with just a few ingredients.
With olive oil and a spicy blend of paprika, salt, and pepper, you get an aromatic snack that's perfect for a cozy movie night or as a crispy topping for salads.
Ingredients
1 can or jar of chickpeas (approx. 240 g drained weight)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp paprika powder (sweet)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
Optional:
½ tsp garlic powder or chili for more spice
Preparation
1. Preheat oven
Preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat.
Line a baking sheet with baking paper.
2. Prepare chickpeas
Rinse the chickpeas thoroughly in a sieve.
Then pat them very dry, preferably with a kitchen towel.
The drier the chickpeas, the crispier they will be.
3. Season
Place the chickpeas in a bowl.
Add olive oil, paprika powder, salt, and pepper and mix everything well so that the chickpeas are evenly seasoned.
4. Roast
Spread the chickpeas on the baking sheet as individually as possible so that they roast evenly.
Bake in the oven for about 25–30 minutes.
Turn them once after about 15 minutes so they get crispy all around.
5. Serve
Once the chickpeas are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the oven and let them cool briefly.
Best enjoyed fresh.
Tips
- For extra crispiness, remove the thin skins from the chickpeas before seasoning.
- The chickpeas are also excellent as a salad topping or soup garnish.
- Stored airtight, they remain crispy for about 1–2 days.
