The perfect party snack from the oven or grill
Crispy dough, savory tomato sauce, melted cheese, and hearty salami – these pizza rolls are true finger food bliss.
Ideal for BBQ parties, birthdays, or as a potluck dish. They can be prepared in advance and turn out perfectly both in the oven and on the grill using indirect heat.
Ingredients
-
500 g fresh pizza dough
-
125 ml passata (strained tomatoes)
-
1 ball mozzarella
-
100 g grated cheese (e.g., Gouda or Emmental)
-
1 egg (for brushing)
-
8–10 cherry tomatoes
-
80–100 g air-dried salami
Spices:
-
1 tsp oregano
-
½ tsp basil
-
½ tsp garlic powder
-
Salt & pepper
Preparation
1️. Prepare the dough
Roll out pizza dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into approximately 6 x 6 cm squares.
2️. Season the sauce
Mix passata with oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
3️. Fill
Place a small spoonful of sauce on each piece of dough.
Cut mozzarella into small pieces and place on top along with some salami and halved cherry tomatoes.
Tip: Don't use too much filling – otherwise, the rolls will burst open.
4️. Shape
Fold the corners up and press them together firmly.
Place seam-side down in a lightly oiled baking dish.
5️. Brush & Bake
Brush with whisked egg.
Bake at 200 °C top/bottom heat or on the grill with indirect heat for approx. 18–22 minutes, until golden brown.
Sprinkle with grated cheese about 5 minutes before the end and finish baking.
Serve
Let cool briefly – they taste best warm!
Perfect with aioli, herb quark, or simply plain.
💡Tip
- Also available vegetarian with peppers, olives, or mushrooms
- Ideal for preparation – store cool before baking
- Leftovers also taste great cold
